BL Games I'm helping to translate4 min read

So, it’s already spring break for me, which means a week or so of nothing to do but be caged in my house. So I decided to go help out some BL game projects that’re in need of translators. Yeah, I’m helping out BL game projects since it seems like most female translators are already working on other otome game projects. Either that or there’s just not that much otome games out there. Well, I mean, I play otome games and I wouldn’t want others to bootleg/pirate the game so that’s probably why there’s not much TL projects.

But on the other hand, wow, so many BL games. Daaaaang. Anyways, the games I’ve decided to help out with are CAGE -OPEN- and Kichiku Megane. The former is a really dark game that actually somewhat triggered a panic attack in me last night (I’m all good now) while the latter is all cool, just like any other BL game.

CAGE -OPEN-

Konno Teppei suddenly loses consciousness on his way home from work in the evening. He wakes up surrounded by ruins and old buildings. He, along with several other men, are in an abandoned amusement park.
An announcement suddenly informs them that the game is about to begin. The rules are very simple. For 8 days, the participants will continue their normal lives during the daytime. But once night falls, they will be forced into the old amusement park as the setting for their struggle to obtain a coin that will win them fifty million yen.

See that shit? So dark. Even the picture’s so dark. But anyways, it’s like a battle royale of some sorts taking place in an amusement park. But hahahaha, don’t expect too much of the happy endings. I know I don’t. Anyways, here’s the project thread at Aarinfantasy. Common route’s done and before I came in, there were two translators and they were using VNR or Visual Novel Reader. And because there was only one route left to assign, I got Yoshimoto’s route, the crazy sociopath. Yippee! He seems adorable in his own route but we’ll see. If you’re already playing this though and have an itch to go down Yoshimoto’s route, go ahead, be my guest. Just that feel free to comment on the inaccuracies or ask me about anything that might be confusing you so that I can correct them and continue on with translating.
 

Kichiku Megane

Katsuya is an incompetent white-collar worker, who is about to get fired. One day, a man suddenly appears in front of him, and gives him a pair of glasses. “If you wear these glasses, your life will change 180 degrees.” Yes, it’s true! While he wears them, he becomes a competent worker. But, he doesn’t know these glasses also make him wild and violent….

Title literally translates to ‘Brutal Glasses.’ Seems that it’s been adapted to manga so I’ll probably check that out. Anyways, here’s the project forum at Aarinfantasy. When I saw the opening, man, did it reel me in immediately. Sorry, I have this thing with guys in glasses, I need to stop. But no, aside from that, sjfhslfhhfksdhfkldf Katsuya with glasses is hot hot like a tater tot. I feel like I’ve been getting dominating tendencies recently it’s scaring me. But anyways, feel free to stop by the project thread at AF. We’re still working on the common route and from what I see, it’s almost done. I’ve mostly been TL checking for now since it’s much easier but at least it’s easier than working on the Kotenbu light novels and OPEN, sigh.

But anyways, you guys should totally check them out. I contacted the people working on sweet pool if they needed my help and they did but they never got back to me with the proofreading test. And idk if you’ve noticed but I rarely post manga on here because well… It’s just too annoying to have to debind my manga, scan, clean, typeset, redraw and translate all at the same time. So if someone wants to help with the raw providing or the cleaning/redrawing part at least, I’d gladly add more.
