The Black Cat Prince Laughs At The Moonlit Sky 1-18 min read
This is pretty much a love comedy.
But, the first chapter will have a serious tone to it.
If you were to read until the end, I’d be delighted.
Chapter 1-1: A Beautiful World
Ah, this world is really beautiful.
It’s filled with various colors.
The sky is blue.
Leaves are green.
Fried eggs are yellow.
Flowers are pink.
White. Orange. Purple.
Aqua. Yellow-green.
Gray, and brown as well.
But, sorry. Definitely, I…
“…It’s just red… that I hate.”
Spread all over, red, bright red, red.
That, is reflected in my eyes.
Addressing the black smoke rising up into the blue sky.
“…Blood red is definitely… Mom.”
Lying down weakly in front of me was a person.
That white, gold, or maybe flaxen hair is definitely even redder than my hair right now.
Istrada Kingdom.
That’s the name of this country, where I was born and raised.
Even though we were in an alliance with the neighboring country, The Republic of Ruiabuc, they waged war with a major nation in the West, The Commonwealth of Fortanica, two years ago.
With the overwhelming difference in power, Ruiabuc was annihilated the first year. My country, who was their small allied country that they left behind, was at our wits’ end, and was invaded.
…That’s precisely what’s happening.
Even the neighboring villages and towns disappeared like that as well. Even though all the young men were made to enlist, because this town flourished quite decently, we didn’t disappear so easily.
Even this feudal lord’s mansion where I work at was included in the invasion. With a big hole in the roof, and the walls crumbling, the outside was completely visible. With just its thick pillars of its framework left behind and barely resembling its intended form, the building is barely holding on.
And then everyone who lived there were all massacred in the blink of an eye…it seems.
Because, as I only recovered consciousness a while ago, ‘What’s going on?,’ or ‘I don’t understand why I’m the only survivor,” those thoughts went through my head.
But the moment I noticed…
A bright, red world was spreading before my eyes…
“…”
With the burned bodies and blood mixed together, the smell was extremely vivid.
This was the salon where the lord’s family would use for meals. At the time of the attack, it was precisely lunch time. Everyone came to this place.
Even the carpet that should have been clean, its only color right now is red…
“…Ow…”
Suddenly, a throbbing pain pierced through the back of my head.
For the first time, I noticed that blood was flowing from the back of my head.
…Oh yeah. The building fell with the attack magic the enemy fired. A fragment from that fell on my head. And then I fainted…
Because it was really sudden, I don’t remember much…
While pressing on my wound, I looked at my surroundings.
There were no signs of people around me, not one footstep could be heard. However, the only thing that reached my ears were the crackling sounds of the house burning.
…Is everyone really dead, I wonder. Did the enemy already leave?
While looking at the unreal scene, I brought my own hands in front of me.
It was sticky… Red, blood.
…Such a hateful color. Mom’s definitely a liar.
With the pain leaving my head, I thought in a daze… At that moment.
—–Thud, thud, thud…
From far away, faint footsteps. And then I heard a man’s voice.
Was it someone from town who survived? …No, they’re not. Even if by chance they were, if they were injured, they shouldn’t be able to move about right away.
If that’s the case, I’ve pretty much guessed on the owner of the footsteps.
…He suddenly decided to come this way.
“…!”
My body stiffened.
As soon as my body sensed the incoming danger, the scenery before my eyes changed colors.
Ah, that’s right. They’re coming. The guy.
Jeez, there had been a rumor that I heard over and over.
The cold-blooded soldiers of the Commonwealth of Fortanica, to surviving women…
Mercilessly violating, and after thoroughly playing with them, would kill them like insects…
“…Ugh…”
I felt nauseous.
I don’t want to die like that. Definitely not!
But…
—–Thud, thud, thud…
While doing that, the footsteps steadily got closer.
I have to escape… from here, quickly.
But, where to? I may already be surrounded by the enemy.
If so, I can’t. I was paralyzed with fear, being perfectly useless.
Ah, what should I do? I can’t stop shivering.
Why do I… Why do I have to die this harshly?
If so…
Preferably, on my own…
—–At that moment.
A black shadow covered my body. The footsteps were right there.
I looked up at that figure. It was a man dressed in a military uniform, looking down at me.
Silver hair. With the back light, I couldn’t clearly see his face, but he was younger than I thought.
And… Peeking through that silver hair, were long ears.
I wonder if elf blood is dominant. If so, then this guy is definitely an enemy.
The allied country that was participating in this war supporting Fortanica, was the Human Empire, Logantz…
It was said that elves lived in that country long ago, with a lot of its people having long ears, an elf trait.
Ah, that’s right.
There’s nothing else I can do.
After this, no matter how it plays out, there is only “death.”
If that’s the case, there’s nothing else left except choosing how to die.
That’d be the last freedom I’d get.
Before they defile me.
I’ll kill myself.
Bite my tongue.
Mom. Though it’s a little early, I’ll quickly be heading over there.
Dyed in the blood of those who died earlier, a red world.
With that last scene imprinted, I close my eyes.
And then, with all my strength, my tongue…
…But immediately after.
“H…Hey, miss! You okay!? You guys, call the First Aid Squad over! There’s someone here!”
…What did I just hear?
Without thinking, I said,
“…Huh?”
And looked up.
My tongue stung from the bite.
Ignoring the befuddled me, the silver-haired man, from his own uniform… took off the sewn-on enemy crest, and secretly put it on my shoulder.
And then looked at me as I terribly flustered about.
“But man, I’m glad you were safe from misfire… Those Fortanica guys really fucked up… Ah, ah, blood’s dripping from your head. You’re fine now. Since we’ll fix you right up immediately.”
And said that.
…Eh? This guy, just now, what did he…?
I thought for a moment, but then I quickly shook off the hand on my shoulder.
“D…Don’t touch me! Since… Since I’m going to die!!”
“Hey, hey. Even though I saved you, don’t say that.”
Troubled at my words, the man scratched his head.
Moreover, I pondered all the more.
This guy… He said “save” just now, right…?
Far from violating an enemy… He’s saving me…?
…No, that’s not it.
It’s definitely a trap to put my guard down.
“S…Shut up! If you think you can say whatever you want, then you’re greatly mistaken!!”
Even while shivering, I said in an extremely loud voice. The man definitely looked troubled.
“…Well, that’s true. There’s no way you’d be relieved. Even with Fortanica’s attacks not stopping, to say “You’ll be fine” or something like that… It was insensitive. Sorry.”
“…I wasn’t prepared either, so…”
“Ah, jeez, I get it. If you’re too noisy, you’ll open your wounds. Just do me a favor and be quiet. If you’ve got complaints, I’ll hear them as much as you want after we take care of your wound.”
“…”
He looked apologetic, with his long ears drooping.
Those things are real then.
I suspiciously looked into his face.
“…You…”
“Hmm?”
“…You’re not…going to violate me?”
“…Huh?”
The silver-haired man’s eyes were literally circles.
My body stilled, waiting for his response.
…After a moment of silence.
“…I’m not exactly sure what you’re saying but… Who’d do that to someone your age? Sorry. I’m not interested in kids. Besides, before that, I’d have to fix you up first so you’d be healthy…”
Good, now’s my chance.
As the guy was, for some reason, still talking, I got up and tried to escape again…
…But.
Suddenly, my vision warped.
It felt like my body was floating, my consciousness faded—–
Baam.
…When I noticed, this man’s arm had caught me.
“See, didn’t I tell you? That’s cause you lost lots of blood. If you quickly got up, of course you’ll fall over.”
“Ugh…”
Crap… I have to escape quickly. Being in this enemy’s arms is too dangerous…
With my hazy consciousness, although I had thought of that, my body wasn’t listening. Seems I don’t have a lot of blood.
“Right, right. So be good. Or I’ll carry you like this. Damn, those guys are late. Hey, First Aid Squad! The hell are you doing, come over here quick!!”
The man shouted.
As I listened, my consciousness was rapidly fading.
Does he really plan on saving me…? No, since he’s an enemy, he shouldn’t…
…But…
This man’s temperature, for some reason, feels really good…
And then my consciousness faded there—-
Thank you for reading the first chapter.
I hope you will enjoy continuing to read.

This is more or less a test chapter for this series, whether or not I’ll continue translating it. If you want me to continue, please do let me know! If there’s enough interest, I’ll probably translate this along ITTMFV. Depends. It’s an interesting series to me so far.
Also, he’s not the ML. The ML shows up in 2-5.
