Chapter 5: I Can’t Escape
I was brought back.
Moreover, I was brought back to the Royal Palace since the preparations were pretty much done.
As I softly cried in despair, Clark-sama sat beside me and caressed my knee. Hey, don’t sexually harass me in the middle of all this confusion!
“Letty, you’ll ruin your cute face if you cry so much.”
It’s your actions that made me cry, you know!
“I wanna go home…”
“That’s impossible.”
He stroked my head while saying, ‘Sorry.’ It shouldn’t be ‘Sorry,’ but, ‘I’ll let you go back.’
Clark-sama pulled on my hand as I wept and started walking. Where are you taking me? Don’t tell me, an early wedding?
Even as I resisted, he easily pulled me along.
“Letty, look up.”
I reluctantly looked up as I was told to.
“There’s…”
“Yeah.”
“There’s a river…”
In the castle courtyard was a small, flowing river. You could even see fishes swimming in it.
“I made one.”
You mean you made it with money…!
‘As expected of the most powerful royalty!’ I thought, but it’s not like I hate it.
“You like rivers, right? You’ll be able to fish here as well.”
It’s true that I do like rivers. I also like to fish. I love it.
“Hey, it’s fine to do the things you like whenever you want from here on out. Although you’ll have to do diplomatic stuff, you won’t have to do it as much. There’s no more princess training as well.”
He compromised so much. But will the queen allow me to do that much?
“It’ll be fine, I won’t let anyone say otherwise. Since I properly got permission.”

I unconsciously let out an idiotic voice.
“When I told everyone, ‘Since I’m not going to marry anyone else aside from Letty, if she were to run away, I might not want to have kids,’ they easily agreed.”
People call that a threat.
“So let’s get married. It’s not a bad idea, right? You can peacefully live a carefree life instead of becoming a noble’s wife. Anyways, since you’ll get married to someone someday, just marry this fine specimen right here.”
He’s the cause of my bad debt.
I look at his face as he came closer. Beautiful, serene eyes. Looking at his hair rustling in the breeze, without knowing why, I agreed, thinking, ‘I see, he’s definitely like a prince.’
“But it’s not because I’m moved by your kindness!”
I covered his approaching lips an inch away. He makes a spiteful face for some unknown reason. Rather, I’m the one who wants to make that face instead.
“…What are you dissatisfied with?”
He removed the hand that covered his lips.
“Marrying into royalty.”
“You’ll have to bear with that one.”
“No.”
Without giving up, I shake my head, and Clark-sama lets out a sigh.
“Leticia, I’m sorry.”
As he said that, Clark-sama held me up in his arms and brought me inside the castle.
I have a bad feeling about this.
“Let me down!”
I struggled in his arms as much as I could, but I was no match for him. This is so frustrating!
Like that, I was taken to a room deep inside the castle.
“Letty, you’ll be staying here until the wedding preparations are completely finished.”
Clark-sama grinned with his beautiful face and heartlessly closed the door.
I immediately tried opening the door.
“I-It won’t open…!”
Leticia, a duke’s daughter, 17 years old. For the first time in my life, I’m under house arrest.
LOL HOUSE ARREST. But wow, he made her a river just so she’d get married to him. Damn. I want a guy like that. But also, you’ll see it in future chapters but Clark is really in love with Letty, hence why there’s a yandere? tag for this story on syosetu.

I do have to admire Clark’s devotion to Letty, but I wonder… how’d he get the time and the workforce just to build a river in the time since he last met her?
