The Sorcerer Wants Normality Chapter 16 min read
Beginning Memories And Current Mental State
It would make me happy for you to read this in your spare time.
In life, accidents are inevitable.
Just because it’s peaceful today doesn’t mean that tomorrow will be the same.
…That being the case.
Before I knew it, I was already in a fantasy world♪
Please don’t tell me to ‘simply get over it.’ That’s because when I got up, I got dizzy and when I next opened my eyes, I saw another world in front of me.
In the middle of a forest, with no traces of having been summoned, nor a meeting with God (the main culprit).
At that moment, I thought, Te…teleportation? A supernatural phenomenon!?
When I looked above, I saw two sun-like things. Obviously, this ain’t Earth.
Dumbfounded -> Tried to escape reality -> Depressed, sulked on the ground while writing on it.
After coming here, I did nothing else except this.
Humans, when thrust into situations beyond their comprehension, often do unreasonable things.
The cruel passage of time on my wristwatch strangely made this situation even more real.
In the meantime, I was forced to accept that this may be one of those trendy ‘Other World Trips.’
As an otaku who’s read various web novels, I have a certain amount of understanding of these so I was able to recognize it.
If I had no knowledge of this, I would have already panicked like usual… I quickly pulled myself together, and the me who’s good at thinking of what to do from here on out did exactly that.
There’s no point in hiding the fact that the calm me is uncute, what with the distant look in my eyes.
Sorry other world, I’m no daydreaming maiden.
If I was just a young lady that was also an otaku, my heart would have already jumped out of its body in excitement at an other world trip.
Goodbye, The Civilized Life™. If I can, I‘d like to go home as soon as possible.
First things first, let’s think things logically and devote ourselves to surviving. Though it doesn’t look like I have a place I can stay in.
Under these circumstances, even though there hasn’t been any indication of there being a reverse harem element or assigning of cheats, doesn’t that just go to show how much they sympathize with me? I wish that were the case, but–
“In the meantime, I should look for a place with people.”
As luck would have it, I saw a road nearby. It might be connected to a village or town if I follow it.
Deciding that, I commenced my plan on needing to survive. It’s only natural to refrain from camping in this kind of situation.
Even though it’s useless escaping from reality, it doesn’t really change anything, does it? In the meantime, I’ll just keep on moving forward.
After that, I immediately passed by a cart that luckily took me with them.
…Though they mistook me for a lost kid.
There was also a period of time I thought this way.
Currently — my other world trip is verging on about three months — there’s not a trace of that mindset in me anymore.
Luckily, I possessed magic power, so I made use of my knowledge and became a magician. At that time, I still hadn’t realized what was in store for me.
In conclusion… What I’m talking about is that thing that’s promised with an other world trip.
Though the only thing I couldn’t figure out was a way back home. Well, not like I expected it in the first place.
Anyways, so it seems like my cheat ability is understanding any language that this world has.
It’s automatic, so there’s no problem understanding others, and I can even read. I can’t write though.
My greatest forte is possessing knowledge not of this world, which basically means it’s my true trump card.
In short, how I’m going to best keep myself alive is with this.
Not as naive as in novels where they hide their amazing powers despite doing nothing.
Reality is too damn cruel! Ah wait, that’s only natural to do now that I think about it.
The problem is that a promised element exists.
Namely, the reverse harem situation that comes with using a cheat ability in another world.
It’s troublesome, immensely so. I refuse that part with all my heart!
Why, you ask?
It’s beautiful precisely because it’s a story.
Since it doesn’t usually happen in real life, right?
The moment a reader becomes a character in a story is my reality, dear ladies.
Of course, there‘s a knight and a prince too.
Just like how Japan has an imperial family and the JSDF, of course this fantasy world has them too. It’d be troublesome if it didn’t.
There’s even magic.
Because in this world, magic was something natural.
So what exactly am I trying to say?
“Don’t think of this as a dream!”
Yes, I want to emphasize this.
A beautiful prince– but he was a devil king deep down.
Beautiful knights as well–but they’re black-hearted perverts.
The reverse harem factor was in full swing–As full as the convenience of work in Ueno*. Complete with life crises♪
….Do you envy this?
Hehe, ordinary is such a common, but beautiful word. What, don’t you think that having a strangely beautiful face and being capable is proof of strangeness?
Extraordinary (aka genius) + strangely beautiful → has a magnificent downside.
This was one of the things I learned after I came to this world. People in this world are naturally good-looking, but the finest among them are landmines.
But as someone who suddenly got thrown into a different world, just being able to secure a living would be great, don’t you think so?
As someone in the latter half of my twenties who’s not at an age to freely daydream, thank you for this reality check!
But… But!
I just want to say this! For those who have experienced trips in the past and will experience it in the future…!
Listen here, I don’t want you getting involved with each and every one of these beauties, no matter if you’re harassed, okay?!
Brimming with love elements? Lovely encounters with good-looking men?
HA! I’ve perfectly enjoyed the trouble that came as a set with these beauties! At the very least, I have no interest to risk my life for love or pursuing it.
I’m an ordinary person! A civilian!
If this was a game world, I’d be Villager A. I would not have any interaction with the main characters.
Never would I be caught in a power struggle, or a life or death crisis.
That’s right, as long as I’m not involved with every flag that these guys raise…!
–This is the story of a woman who died, arrived in a different world without any role, and removed obstacles while fully utilizing all of the knowledge she’d gained up until then.
*On the Ueno joke part: As this article says, Ueno has the most working-class.
I started off translating this, and then otome chimed in to finish it. If there’s something that doesn’t make sense, please do let us know. Also, I have taken some liberties here with translation (like adding the TM symbol for example) to make it slightly fit the comedic tone it was going for.
Hopefully this made sense to you readers. I currently have no plans to translate this (definite plans that is) since I’m currently translating other novels, but I’ll probably keep this in mind. update when I can, so no definite schedule.
